you will be charged once unless you keep charging within a short amount of time. your purchases will not be denied so you will get charged again, and again if your purchases keep getting approved. its not worth it. dont do it. if you have had the card for a while and no late payments, call them and ask for a credit limit increase. you might get it. good luck.

The grace period is a set number of days after your billing cycle ends that the creditor gives you so you can recieve your statement make a payment. In this case, your grace period would be 20days. For example, if your billing cycle ends on the 5th of the month, you have until the 25th of that month to make a payment before they charge you with a late fee impact your credit.

Just add her as an authorized user, as long as it is parent/sibling then it still works. Your credit card history will report on her credit report also. My mom just did this for me.

As long as it is a family member then you adding her as a authorized user will report the credit card account on her credit report. She will get the history of the credit card and payments.

With your daughter not having a job, if you get her a credit card in her name, you will just have to pay the bills :~

Grace period is the # of days from when your billing cycle ends. Billing period is simply the dates included in your billing statement - usually a 30 day period or the previous month.

So all your transactions in the previous month makes up your billing period and the grace period follows the preset number of days after the billing period ends where you are responsible for paying your bill.

Often you don't receive your mailed statement until part way into your grace period, so keep that in mind and don't get caught paying late fees.

It depends on your card agreement. Most, if not all, will charge you once for going over the limit per month. Some cards will not allow you to continually go over the limit. i.e. once you are over your limit, transactions may be declined. If you go over your limit, and do not bring the card under your credit limit by the next billing cycle, you will get charged an overlimit fee again even if you havent used the card anymore. Try not to get too close to your max, it looks bad to creditors. You should really try to only use 30% of your available credit.

What a great idea! Congrats to you and your Student Senate for organizing this project.

Here are some cost effective ideas to share:

Ask a professor on campus (perhaps someone who teaches Investing or Finance) to hold a workshop on investment options. You may wish to have reps from local investment agencies or banks there to sign interested students up (Make sure that your school approves this beforehand. Some schools do not approve of having banks/financial institutions on campus soliciting students.)

Hold an investing competition. Students can be given a set amount of money to invest in different stock markets. At the end of a set amount of time the student whose investment increased the most wins. Perhaps you could have a small workshop or handout to show students the basics of playing the stock market. (Note: There are also free programs online that let you 'play' the market.)

Ask your Vice-President of Finance (the person responsible for the University's budget to hold a workshop on budget management.

Moster.com offers FREE (no strings attached) programs to colleges. Our school brings them in during Orientation to do a program called College Road trip. (I think that is what it is called.) They also numerous programs, including one on budgeting. I HIGHLY recommend bringing them to campus. They have great speakers that are interactive and energetic and they bring TONS of free giveaways. Defiantly give them a shot. (And yes - it really is FREE!)

IF and only IF she is responsible should she get a credit card. Then YOUR number one rule will be it is paid in full each month and not by you either.

She needs to get a parttime job so she even knows what earning her living is all about.

Being put on your card does her absolutely NO good anymore.
