need help/advice on opening a credit card?

hi i just needed a little advice/ help on opening up a credit card. im just opening it up to build up my credit and was wondering since i got declined from the bank should I open a credit card from a department store or just something like a student credit card? thanks :)

    well first off, be careful about putting in too many applications. several applications in a short period of time can hurt your score. Second, I would suggest first premier bank for your first card. Most of their cards are auto-accept and it’s a great way to build credit, I got mine when I had almost no credit and got a 9.9% rate. The main downside to this however, is any auto-accept credit card will result in a drop in you’re credit score. Mine was dropped by around 30 points! But keep making you’re payments on time and don’t let you’re balance on the card exceed 50% of the limit and you will see it rise in no time =]
